Lets face it our laptops/desktops are cluttered with programs that we

1) Rarely use and never uninstall.
2) Update regularly.
3) Accept and never look for an alternative.
4) Pony up some serious cash for.

Well I’ve got some good news! The web today is filled with web applications that can potentially solve these 4 issues.

Instant messaging

Meebo
www.meebo.com

Meebo supports the internets top instant messaging clients accessed through a browser. Whether you’re at work, a friends house, or internet café Meebo grants you free access while preserving buddy lists, chat history, and privacy settings. I suggest creating an account and merging instant messaging clients. So if you’re sick of running 2-3 messaging programs try Meebo.

Online Storage

Box
www.box.net

No thumb drive? No problem when you’re using Box. A great resource when managing files online and need access anywhere. Got email limitations? Not anymore! Share files with friends, coworker’s or clients the simplest way.

Home on the web: Part II will feature other tools which will aid you in achieving a minimalist internet experience. Now get out there and sign up!
